Doctors prefer Camels

In 1947, R.J. Reynolds commissioned a survey among more than 100,000 doctors, asking the key question, “What cigarette do YOU smoke, Doctor?” However, BEFORE the survey was sent out, all of those doctors received free samples of Camel cigarettes. Naturally, when the survey was taken, most of those doctors gave the answer Reynolds was expecting. In their radio and magazine advertising, their slogan was, “According to a nationwide survey, more doctors smoked CAMELS, than any other cigarette.”

The Psychiatrist and the Proctologist

Best friends graduated from medical school at the same time and decided that in spite of two different specialties, they would open a practice together to share office space and personnel. Dr. Smith was the psychiatrist and Dr. Jones was the proctologist. They put up a sign reading: Dr. Smith and Dr. Jones: Hysterias and Posteriors. The town council was livid and insisted they change it.
The docs changed it to read: Schizoids and Hemorrhoids. This was also not acceptable so they again changed the sign to read Catatonics and High Colonics.

How does this dilemma end? Listen Saturday! (check our website for broadcast and listening options).

Global Nurses? Yes, it’s necessary!

We mentioned a few weeks ago that we attended the National Nurses United Conference here in San Francisco. We met nurses from most of the states and from over 13 other countries. It’s very interesting to talk to nurses from around the world because even though the healthcare systems are different than ours in the U.S. —most we talked to have a form of universal healthcare — the problems and challenges are the same. RN and Co-President of National Nurses United, Deborah Burger shares the global vision.

ACA is here to stay…lets find out the FACTS
Love it, hate it, don’t know enough about it to do either? It’s here and the best thing we can do is find out the FACTS about it. Not the political posturing from both parties or the “myths” (and oh, there are plenty of them) but the FACTS. And today our good friend, Nurse Talk’s Affordable Care Act Senior Consultant, Donna Smith is with us to share some real information about one of the most important components of the ACA, aka Affordable Care Act, the Insurance Exchanges, or what some refer to as marketplaces.
