For decades, registered nurses at Daughters of Charity Health System have outlasted wars, pestilence and even earthquakes to fulfill their mission of serving the indigent and the poor in the Bay Area and Southern California. But now Daughters of Charity hospitals face the threat of bankruptcy and possible closure as soon as June unless California Attorney General Kamala Harris approves a sale to the leading bidder, Prime Healthcare.
