This is Great! We Nurses work so hard with very littlt recgoition!

I have been an LPN for 17 years, and have worked in almost every area of nursing. I’ve always wanted to learn new things, and am IV certified, Stroke certified, Wound Care certified. I have much experience, but am troubled as to why, at least in the state of Florida, all of my experience does not count towards any of the pre-requisites for the LPN to RN bridge program. I feel that, depending on the person, not all LPN’s should have to take 9 pre-requisites BEFORE even beginning the bridge program. For this reason, and also monetary reasons, I have not been able to bridge. Are hospitals and physicians offices going to realize one day that they truly do need LPN’s, if only to reduce the monstrous workload of the RN?

I think you should seriously re-think the name of this award…..Golden Bedpan Award seriously????  If you want to reward hardworking RNs that should be recognized, put them in a truly positive light. We derserve better than a “Bedpan” award

I believe that the Golden bedpan award is appropriate for nurses at both levels LPN/LVN/RN… reason being we are the greatest at handling everything thrown at us by physicians, patients, families, ancillaries…. and it all  should be contained in a bed pan… if you get my drift…
